The commencement of the year saw the convening of the P-TECH Advisory Committee meeting for La Joya ISD, setting the stage for a year of collaborative efforts and student-focused initiatives. La Joya ISD takes pride in hosting two P-TECH campuses, each specializing in distinct fields. Juarez Lincoln High School P-TECH focuses on Criminal Justice, while Palmview High School P-TECH is dedicated to Advanced Manufacturing.
Key representatives from various organizations were in attendance, underscoring the importance of fostering partnerships between education and industry. Mike Willis from the South Texas Manufacturing Association, David Gutierrez and Darisel Villarreal from Texas Workforce Solutions, Horacio Salinas from IHC Suspension, Adolfo Baesa from Safe Global, Pearl Guzman, and Rosie Martinez from the Hidalgo County District Attorneyās Office, District Attorney Terry Palacios, Supervisor Marissa Gonzalez from CBP, and Erika Guerra from South Texas College, alongside La Joya ISD staff directly involved with P-TECH, contributed to the collaborative discussions.
Superintendent of Schools, Heriberto Gonzalez, expressed the significance of such collaborative efforts, stating, "The recent P-TECH Advisory Committee meeting marks a milestone in our commitment to providing students with real-world exposure and valuable skills. These partnerships are essential in preparing our students for successful futures."
The session concluded on a heartwarming note as students from Clinton Elementary, part of the Texas ACE Program under the direction of Janeth Zamora Leal, presented thoughtful gifts. The ACE students, showcasing their creativity, designed and sublimated 16-ounce tumblers as tokens of appreciation for the esteemed industry partners of La Joya ISD's P-TECH Advisory Committee. This gesture symbolizes the interconnectedness of education and industry, paving the way for a dynamic and promising academic year.
