A select group of Juarez-Lincoln High School students participated in a mock trial held on Wednesday, November 6th. Students from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Mock Trial Team served as attorneys, defendant, and witnesses, while JLHS students played the role of plaintiff and jury. The judge was played by a local attorney. The “trial” was a civil suit where one brother was contesting their father’s will on the basis of alleged involvement of the other brother in their father’s death. JLHS Senior, Maybelline Cabrera says the trial was very interesting and though she had considered becoming a lawyer in the past, this experience made her realize it is something she is sure is in her future.
